Car Rental Agreement

This page sets out the general conditions for the car rental services provided by Grandes Rent a Car. The information given at the time of booking, the booking confirmation and the rental agreement signed by both parties at handover are treated as a single whole.

This is a translation provided for convenience. The Turkish original is the governing text.

1. The parties and the subject

The lessor is Grandes Rent a Car; the hirer is the natural or legal person named in the booking and the rental agreement. The subject of the agreement is the handover of the specified vehicle to the hirer for the agreed period and on the agreed terms.

2. Booking and vehicle group

A booking is made for the selected vehicle group and the stated date range. In cases of technical failure, accident, a delayed previous rental or similar unavoidable circumstances, a vehicle from the same or a suitable higher group may be provided. Make, model and colour depend on availability.

3. Documents required

The hirer must present a valid driving licence together with an identity card or passport at handover. Age and licence-duration requirements may vary by vehicle group. Only drivers named in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle. Additional drivers must be added to the agreement before handover.

4. Rental period

The rental period runs between the collection and return dates stated in the agreement. Any request to extend must be made to Grandes Rent a Car before the rental period ends, and depends on vehicle availability and the lessor's approval.

An additional charge may apply where the agreed return time is exceeded. For delays of more than five hours, one additional day's rental may be charged.

5. Charges, payment and deposit

The rental charge is set according to the vehicle group, the rental period, the handover point, any additional services and the protection package chosen. The total is notified to the hirer at the time of booking or in the booking confirmation.

A security amount or deposit may be required depending on the vehicle group and the protection package chosen. Its amount, the payment method and the conditions for its return are notified to the hirer before the rental is finalised.

6. Daily mileage limit

Vehicles carry a limit of 200 kilometres per day. The total allowance is calculated over the number of rental days. Where the limit is exceeded, the excess-mileage charge stated in the agreement or the booking confirmation may apply.

7. Handover and return

The vehicle is handed over at the fuel level recorded at that time and must be returned at the same level. Where it is returned short of fuel, the cost of the fuel and any service charge may be claimed from the hirer.

The hirer must return the vehicle in the general condition in which it was received — without new damage beyond ordinary wear, and cleared of personal belongings. Requests to deliver or return at a different address may be subject to an additional charge and to prior approval.

8. Use of the vehicle

The vehicle must be used only for lawful purposes, in accordance with traffic rules and the manufacturer's conditions of use. It may not be used for racing or speed trials, to carry freight, to tow another vehicle, on unsuitable roads or terrain, or to be sub-hired to third parties.

Driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, with an invalid licence, or by a driver not named in the agreement is prohibited.

9. Insurance and liability for damage

Insurance cover is determined by the protection package chosen, the terms of the relevant policy and the signed rental agreement. A protection package does not mean the hirer is released from liability in all circumstances or without limit.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving without a licence or without authorisation, deliberate acts, gross negligence, serious traffic offences including running a red light, and failure to obtain the required accident documents may remove or limit insurance cover.

10. Accident, damage and breakdown

In the event of an accident or damage, once safe, the hirer must contact Grandes Rent a Car without moving the vehicle. Depending on the circumstances, a police or gendarmerie report, an accident report form, an alcohol test report, the driving licence, registration details and photographs of the scene must be obtained.

Where the required reports and documents are not obtained — including for single-vehicle accidents — the resulting loss may fall outside cover. In the event of a mechanical fault or warning light, Grandes Rent a Car must be informed before the vehicle is driven further.

11. Fines, tolls and parking charges

Traffic fines, bridge and motorway tolls, HGS charges, parking fees and other amounts arising from use contrary to the regulations during the rental period are the hirer's responsibility. Where these come to light after the rental, they may be notified to the hirer and the amounts claimed.

12. Changes and cancellation

Requests to change or cancel a booking must be notified to Grandes Rent a Car as soon as possible. Changes depend on vehicle availability. The cancellation and refund conditions for a particular date or period are assessed according to the conditions notified to the customer before the booking was finalised.

13. Protection of personal data

Personal data collected in connection with bookings and rentals may be processed to form and perform the agreement, meet legal obligations, manage vehicle and reservation processes, and make the required notifications to the authorities. Full details are on our KVKK page.

14. Resolution of disputes

Disputes arising from this agreement are governed by the legislation of the Republic of Türkiye. In consumer transactions, the right to apply to the competent consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts under the applicable legislation is reserved.

15. Contact

By making a booking and signing the agreement at handover, the hirer confirms that they have read and understood the rental conditions notified to them.
